so, i made this one using the july kit and an old cassette tape case…here’s the 411…

  • using pliers or your fingers, carefully remove the plastic pegs from the inside that hold the tape in place (this will make room for a book to fit inside).  i also used a basic grey file to sand them down to a smooth surface.
  • construct the book cover using cardstock:  cut yellow cardstock to measure 4 x 5.5 inches wide.  using a scoring blade or bone folder, score two lines (2.5 inches in from each side) this will leave you with a 1/2 inch binding that fits perfectly into your tape case.
  • make the book pages: each page measures 4 x 2 3/8 inches wide.  you will need to cut a total of 26 pages (1 page per alpha).  using scotch tape and 2 pages at a time, flip the pages over so that they are face down on your work surface and the long edges together (see image below) and tape together…

taped-pages

  • adhere backsides of assembled pages to eachother to complete the inside.  using a tape runner, add adhesive to the inside binding of the cardstock cover and insert the book pages.
  • make writing space using white cardstock: cut (26) cards to measure 2 1/4 x 3 1/4 inches and adhere one card to each page.
  • add alpha stickers to outside edges of each page.
  • decorate the cover and you’re all set!

Have fun!!!

So very original! I love this idea!! But, let me make sure I understand….Tape 2 (a & b) pages together then glue another set (c & d) to the first set so that b is glued to c. Did I make that clear as mud?? Thanks

jpscraps- that’s right! :] the reason i taped the back sides was so that the tape isn’t visible…i like the way you explained it better though with the letters, thank you!
